Registration Of Qualification Awarding Bodies (QABs)
Registration of QABS refers to the Authority's recognition of an Institution as a qualification awarding body having complied with the Kenya National Qualifications Framework Act Cap 214.
Who Should Apply?
- Local QABs - Institutions with a legal mandate to award National Qualifications in Kenya including Universities, National Polytechnics and TVET institutions within the line Ministries.
- Foreign QABs - Foreign Qualifications Awarding Bodies refer to Institutions or organisations outside of Kenyan borders that design, develop, issue, and certify qualifications approved and recognised by the relevant authority in the country of operation or origin.
- Professional Examination Bodies (PEBs) - Refers to a statutory body with a mandate to design, develop, and award professional qualifications in a specific profession or occupational field.
- National Assessment & Examination Bodies (NABEs) - Refers to statutory bodies established at the National Level to assess, examine and award national qualifications.
- Specialized Education Institutions - Refers to Institutions with a legal mandate to design, develop, deliver, and award qualifications in specific fields for particular purposes or areas of knowledge.
Key Requirements
- Proof of statutory mandate to award a qualification
- A copy of approval letter, license, certificate or a report from the relevant regulatory body, professional body, industry regulatory body or industry standards, where applicable
- A copy of a strategic plan, highlighting specific strategies applicable to ensure the sustainability and growth of qualifications.
- Duly filled in digital Application Form KNQF3/KNQF 4.
- A copy of the Compliance Certificate applicable to Foreign QABs only.
- Payment of the specified fees
